Summary

A Chinese lesson platform with high quality tutors and perhaps the only one of its kind that caters to kids, but its pricing is unjustifiably expensive. Cheaper alternatives to TutorMing do exist.

depth
Depth This is 'content' richness. How comprehensive is Tutorming and does it take you far in terms of levels, or is it more suited to low level/tourist learners?
uniqueness

Cost Is Tutorming acceptably priced and how does its pricing compare to market competition?

TutorMing boasts plenty of certified and experienced teachers who want you to learn Chinese efficiently.

They offer a flexible schedule and tailored classes, which was one unique element of the program.

I explored TutorMing to find out its other advantages which you can read below.

Features of TutorMing

TutorMing offers one-to-one sessions, which is its main feature.

It provides a TeamViewer download, which facilitates the process of being taught remotely.

Corrections to boost your capabilities

As you study, you will receive instant feedback from each session.

If your grammar is an issue, you’ll get the advice needed. I’d say the feedback helps you to progress.

As a Mandarin newbie, I found that my pronunciation was quite weak.

I felt well-coached in terms of pronunciation and grammar.

Entertaining materials

The materials are fun and varied.

In a one-to-one session, for instance, you’ll get a PowerPoint presentation that the tutors will walk you through, and a recorded version of the classes you attend.

With the recording you can use it as a reference for the homework you’ll receive.

Cultural content and immersion

There’s no shortage of cultural content taught via PowerPoints, which is useful when trying to understand more about how words are used contextually.

When you sign up, keep in mind that the course will also use an immersion technique.

While the tutors speak English, they will try to use Chinese during the sessions.

In my newbie session, my tutor spoke slowly to ensure I understood — which (with the help of some English words and phrases) I did.

Good quality teaching around the clock

Being busy during the day is no excuse for skipping class — especially with TutorMing.

The platform and tutors offer coaching at all hours of the day. If you need to study at 12.30 AM on a Thursday, you’ll have that chance.

This is one of the unique aspects of TutorMing.

What’s also great about TutorMing is the quality of the teaching. If you select the one-to-one sessions, you’ll be taught by tutors who all have experience.

Beyond this, though, the tutors also have qualifications, which is unlike some of the other language learning platforms I’ve tried.

Homework questions to help you practice

The homework, for me, was hit and miss.

I thought that it was too short for those students who might be studying at a newbie level.

You’ll get a total of 10 different types of questions grouped into multiple choice and joining the options together.

It seems like they assume you’ll need less homework and more coaching at this stage, which might not be the case for all learners.

Some might prefer shorter assignments, while others might want more in-depth tasks.

Overall, TutorMing is a good platform for Chinese lessons, if you can afford it. It’s definitely the best option for teaching children online.

You might need to carry out some independent study to reap the full benefits though.
