- Tailored classes for your learning style
- Suitable for all levels
- Sample group classes for free for 7 days
- Value is dependent on your level of commitment
- A little pricey
SpanishVIP offers Spanish tutoring-styled sessions for groups or private classes that are a bit pricey but overall, good value for money. Compared to other platforms that facilitate Spanish lessons, I found SpanishVIP to be one of the best in terms of teacher quality.
SpanishVIP’s a lesson facilitation platform that’s specifically built to suit the individual needs of Spanish students at all levels.
It provides a cost-effective and easy-to-use answer to tutoring and online Spanish classes.
I took a look at SpanishVIP to assess the effectiveness of their service and gain an insight into how good the platform is.
Here’s what I experienced reviewing SpanishVIP.
Features of SpanishVIP
The main feature of the platform is its tailored tutor sessions that students can subscribe to online.
What makes SpanishVIP unique, however, is the option to subscribe for lessons as an individual, or lessons in a group.
You’ll be able to sign up for a huge number of online classes each month.
Tutors will mostly use Skype or Zoom to deliver their classes, but this doesn’t take away from the learning experience at all.
Getting to know your level
I was surprised by how thorough my tutor was when trying to understand my Spanish level.
In a way, the class began with an introductory session before the class started – my tutor asked me a few opening queries to find out what I was capable of.
This was done via email once she understood my abilities, we began the lesson.
Private tutoring sessions
The SpanishVIP sessions offer private classes.
In terms of these classes, for me, they were mostly conversational.
This was because I am an upper intermediate/advanced Spanish speaker and chose to focus on speaking.
These conversational classes pushed me and challenged me enough to feel like I was progressing.
Class materials presentations
The useful aspect of SpanishVIP is the shared class materials you will receive.
If you want to practice in your own time, you can even ask for extra assignments!
During the class, my tutor took me through the pluperfect subjunctive tense.
The mode of teaching was through a PowerPoint presentation, and I received my homework assignment after the session.
Ideal when you commit to many lessons
SpanishVIP offers engaging lessons that are well-priced.
I would say however, that if you are not deeply committed to learning Spanish, and don’t want to book many lessons, this platform might not be for you (in this case, try italki instead).
As an advanced Spanish student, I found this platform was great value for money.
You can choose what you want to focus on or be guided by the teacher depending on your preference.
They also offer a free trial so there’s no risk.
For alternatives to SpanishVIP, I also recommend taking a look at italki (cheaper option) or Lingoda which are both excellent platforms.
