A tutor-based language learning platform of good quality that brings tailored tutor sessions to its students.

Not without alternatives however.

The objective of Preply, which was launched in 2012, is to demonstrate the importance of quality language learning — and deliver top lessons to students.

It is a tutor-based platform that offers exceptional lessons to students around the globe.

This review shows what Preply does best.

Features of Preply

The opportunity to choose from a vast range of tutors for your specific target language is the main feature of Preply.

There are more than 49,000 tutors in total for all languages.

There is a business language learning section for different languages, a section specifically for kids, and a section for pronunciation.

Preply features a good selection of languages, including, but not limited to:

Study at any hour of the day

Because Preply enables students to select from tutors based around the world, studying at any hour of the day is possible.

There are tutors in Sydney, London, Toronto, New York City and various other locations.

If you’re working during the day, you’ll be able to enter your class in the evening.

This is what I liked about Preply.

Tailored, immersion approach

Preply’s tutors use an immersion strategy to help take your language knowledge to the next level.

They also tailor their teaching for your preferred learning style.

You’ll find that the majority of tutors have certifications and deliver great lessons.

What helped me most, as a student who already is familiar with my target language, was the conversation practice.

After my session, I felt that I had gained confidence.

Get a refund or replacement tutor if not satisfied

The good thing about Preply is that if you’re not happy with the trial lesson experience, you’ll have the chance to choose another tutor.

I have to say, I was pleased with my trial.

The native Spanish tutor I selected quickly understood that language conversation and thinking in Spanish were skills I needed to improve.

Just based on my experience, the tutors try to adapt their style to your learning style.

It might take a little trial and error to get the right tutor depending on your preferences.

At the time of writing this review, some tutors listed on Preply have 4 or 5 years of experience, and others don’t have verified teaching certifications. I would recommend Preply, though.

I found it a good learning experience and would use it again in the future.

For a quality alternative, try italki or Lingoda (or if you’re learning Spanish, try SpanishVIP).
